Put a cork in it

We've all seen cork used on shoe soles for years, but it wasn't until recently that the material caught my eye for a new reason. It is the main design element in many of this season's shoes and handbags (as seen by many a Michael Kors and Elie Tahari design). Cork is no longer just used as a comfy sole to cushion your feet, but used as the straps as well. Even purses and clutches are entirely made out of the material. It is the perfect neutral for summer.

Movie Pick: Holiday in the Sun

My guilty pleasure to get me in the mood for summer are cheesy movies like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Holiday in the Sun. Seeing other people frolic in the sun makes you want to go out and do the same, no?

Interviewing Vogue

Two of my favorite fashionistas featured regularly on The Sartorialist are Vogue Japan Fashion Director, Anna Dello Russo, and Giovanna Battaglia, Fashion Editor in Chief of Vogue Pelle & Gioiello. They both had photoshoots for the Dec/Jan 2010 issue of Interview magazine, and I have one word...FIERCE!

The Interview pics: Anna (L), Giovanna (R)

How we usually see them on The Sartorialist:

OUT

Bob Colacello's book, OUT, is a photographic documentation of the 70s that brings you into the glamourous world of art openings, movie premieres, cocktail parties, dinner parties, charity balls and after-hours clubs (Studio 54). Full of beautiful black and white photography, Colacello captured the decade's major celebrities, politicians, artists, etc. These subjects included Diana Vreeland, Jack Nicholson, Cher, Mick Jagger, Diane von Furstenberg, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

A lot of these photos were to be used in Andy Warhol's magazine, Interview, but not all made the cut, so many of these photos haven't been seen by the public until 'OUT' came out.
